These designs are similar to the ones on my
thumbnails. However instead of taking one design and working it up I found it
easier once I was on InDesign to experiment and mesh all the ideas
together as it gave me a better sense of layout proportions.
The
first two ideas I changed around with the placement of the images. The
mushroom intersects the text but the text doesn't run smoothly around no
matter what I change because of the shape of the image. I like the
angular shape of the central images, to make it easier to read the
article I moved them upwards in the next design.
The
third image the type becomes connected to the shaping of the image and
the layout looks more professional. I moved the mushroom image to the
right page and it smoothly merges with the type. The colour chosen suits
a magazine layout, I originally chose the purple because of its
connection with wonderland. The subheading is placed awkwardly at the top, you see in the fourth design I make space for it to go underneath the heading.
The
fourth design's colour scheme would work for a magazine and a
newspaper. I took the blue colour from the wonderland type. To create
the branches inside the type for wonderland I used an image from my
moodboard and created a clipping mask over the type.
