Contextual Collection Part 1

I have a collection of objects and items I have collected throughout the years which give me inspiration. One item is this City Screen booklet which was produced for a film festival one or two years ago.

What originally drew me towards this book was the layout and vibrance of colour on the cover. The type has the appearance of scratched metal and has a striking golden glow against the deep navy of the image. The sky pierces through the image of the face reminds me of Alice in Wonderland from a glance because of the colour, it has a look of a magical mist.

The back of the book is the total opposite in terms of style and colour - although it does take blue shades from the front cover, it has a hand drawn theme to it. I really love the structure and shape the type creates and how that adds to the segments on the page.

The inside of the booklet is very bright and vibrant the images are cropped in a way in which it becomes part of the shapes in the background. The use of placement is very clever. The lines of the angular shapes guide the readers eyes down the page without distracting you from the text.
