Type - The Departure of the Candlewax, Part 1

In this class I decided to throw away my candle idea, it took far too much time to create something of the end quality I wanted. In the next few weeks I hope to create the type I originally wanted to in my own time where I have access to a stove to keep the candle wax liquefied for longer.

This class was so much fun because I had put aside that idea, over the past two weeks I have found myself picking up objects and wondering what words I could create with it. Unfortunately I've found that most of the ideas I had wouldn't work unless it was on a very large scale and budget so I also put them aside too.

I was so excited to create something with the rice I had brought. The texture and feel of cooking with it has always fascinated me and working with rice in class was surprisingly quite relaxing. It was really easy to handle and sculpt, coupled with the grainy surface of the card I used I think the end result worked quite well.

The rice really helped me with some work I was doing on a cv - where at the time I was looking into making a simple symbol alongside an image of myself which can be transitioned across promotional material. I was struggling at the time to free up my calligraphy style working with the rice I was able to create different shapes and angles.
